February Self-Love Art Journal Theme and Creative Workbook
February Self-Love Art Journal Theme and Creative Workbook
Hi Crew!
Can you believe it’s already February?
February invites us to slow down, soften, and come back to ourselves. This month, the NamaSLAY Crew is leaning into self-love through creativity, ritual, and gentle expression.
If you’ve joined the creative challenge and signed up for our free membership, you’ve probably already started a new art journal and begun adding pages. You can follow along with the workbooks, prompts, and free printables in our library, or do your own thing and let the journal unfold naturally

There Is No Right Way to Keep an Art Journal
I thought I would have a nice, organized journal with specific sections in a perfect order. And, as per usual, that idea lasted about five minutes.
Instead, I’ve already skipped around and added all sorts of random pages, and honestly, that’s part of the magic.
In addition to the pages we’ve created together so far, my journal currently also includes:
- A page dedicated entirely to scraps, which I’m adding to over time
- Several pages of doodles in marker and pen
- Neurographic art using Sharpies and acrylic paint pens
- A random watercolor page
- A page of pockets made from leftover paper bags
- A page of stickers from food packaging, another ongoing favorite
- A page of random stickers that have been floating around the house
- Multiple collage pages made from junk mail and magazine scraps
- A page for books, music, quotes, movies, and TV
- A page of random tags, added to as inspiration strikes
- A junk journal spread using packaging
- A page dedicated to business cards
- A pattern and doodle index
There’s no system, no rules, and no pressure to make it “pretty.” It’s just a living, evolving creative space that grows as I do.
February Theme and Creative Prompts

Each month, we explore a new creative theme together. January kicked things off with Renewal, a focus on fresh starts and new beginnings. And honestly, January came in a little chaotic, so some of the details unfolded as we went. Which feels very on-brand for creative life.
February, though, is arriving with clarity and heart.
Even though February is often framed around romantic love, this year I’m inviting you to turn that energy inward. This month is about choosing yourself, moving gently, and creating from a place of care rather than pressure.
February Theme
Self-Love + Softness
Self-love doesn’t have to be loud, performative, or perfectly curated. Sometimes it looks like slowing down, using softer colors, saying no, or letting a page stay unfinished.
This month’s theme is an invitation to soften your expectations, your inner dialogue, and your creative process.
Creative Challenge
Self-Love + Softness: Self-Portrait in Soft Colors
Create a gentle, expressive journal spread using soft tones. This can be a literal self-portrait, an abstract representation, or symbolic imagery that reflects how you want to feel this month. Think blush, creams, muted shades, and relaxed lines. There is no right way to show up on the page.
Word of the Month
Let this word guide how you move through February.
How you speak to yourself.
How you rest.
How you create.
Journal Prompts
- Where can I allow more softness in my life right now?
- What would it feel like to lower the bar and meet myself where I am?
- How can I practice self-love without needing to earn it?
Affirmation
I choose softness with myself.
Rituals for the Month
Take a warm bath or create a simple tea ritual. Let it be unhurried. Bring that softened energy into your journal afterward, even if you only add a few marks or words.
Tarot Card of the Month
The Empress
A reminder of nurturing, self-love, creativity, and allowing yourself to receive.
Color Palette of the Month
- Rose Quartz
- Blush

Crystal of the Month
Rose Quartz

How to Use This Month’s Soften Theme in Your Journal
Think of everything we share each month as a menu, not a checklist. You don’t need to use every prompt, color, or ritual for it to “count.” Let yourself choose what feels supportive right now.
You might start by opening your journal to a blank page and simply writing the word Soften in the center. Sit with it. See what colors, textures, or feelings come up. That alone can be a complete spread.
If you’re feeling more creative, try building a page around one element at a time. Use the color palette as your base, then layer in the affirmation or a short journal response. Let the tarot card or crystal guide the mood rather than the outcome.
Some days, using the theme might look like a full art spread with paint, collage, and intention. Other days, it might just be a few quiet lines written after a cup of tea. Both are valid. Both are self-love.
This month isn’t about productivity or perfection. It’s about creating a soft place to land, on the page and within yourself.
Self-Love Journal Prompts and Stickers

I created a Self-Love Journal workbook to support this month’s theme, along with a set of self-love stickers. And, because I couldn’t help myself, there’s a little Valentine’s Day energy mixed in too.
You can use the workbook as a guided journaling experience, pull individual pages into your art journal, or simply use it as inspiration. The stickers are there to make the process feel lighter, more playful, and less serious.
As always, take what you need. Skip what you don’t. Let this be something that supports you, not another thing to “complete.”

Using February Self-Love Art Journal Tools Together

You don’t need to use everything at once, or in any particular order.
You might start with a single journal prompt, add a sticker to a page that already exists, or flip through the zine and come back to it later. Some days may invite creativity. Other days may simply ask for rest. Both count.
This month is about softness, not productivity. Let these resources meet you where you are, whether that looks like a full creative session or a few quiet moments to yourself.
There’s no finish line here. Just gentle support, whenever you need it.
Love ya babes.
