March Theme: Awakening – A Season of Gentle Emergence
March Theme: Awakening – A Season of Gentle Emergence
Hi Crew,
March is here, and with it comes our new theme: Awakening.
Not the dramatic, overnight transformation kind. The quiet kind. The kind where you stretch a little further toward the light. Where something inside you starts to soften, shift, and say, “Okay… I’m ready.”
This month feels extra special because it’s the first time we’re fully leaning into a featured artist collaboration. Casey’s work is woven throughout the zine, the creative challenge, and the resources we’re sharing. And honestly, this is exactly what I’ve always wanted NamaSlay to become.
When I started this, it was personal. It was about needing a safe place to make art, to experiment, to talk about ideas that matter. But the bigger vision was never just us. It was always about building something collaborative. A space where other women and creatives could bring their voice, their style, their magic into the mix.
Featuring artists isn’t just “content.” It’s community. It’s expansion. It’s letting this thing grow beyond our own hands.
And that feels very on theme to me.
Meet Our March Featured Artist: Casey Blake

This month, we’re welcoming Casey Blake into the NamaSlay creative space, and her work could not feel more aligned with our Awakening theme.
Casey’s paper florals are playful, tactile, and deeply intentional. There’s something powerful about shaping petals with your hands, about turning flat paper into something dimensional and alive. It’s slow. It’s imperfect. It’s expressive. Which, honestly, is exactly what creative growth looks like.
Throughout March, you’ll find Casey’s influence woven into everything we’re sharing. Her paper flower tutorial anchors our March creative challenge. Her workbook walks you step by step through the process so you can create alongside her. And the printable elements and sticker sheets bring that same energy into your journal pages and spreads.
What I love most about this collaboration is that it expands what’s possible inside this community. Different styles. Different textures. Different creative voices. All under one theme, one intention, one shared space.
Awakening is not just about blooming alone. It’s about blooming together. And bringing other artists into this world is part of how we do that.
March Theme and Creative Prompts
Each month, we explore a new creative theme together.
January was about Renewal. February invited us into Self Love and Softness. And now March is asking something slightly different of us.
Awakening.
Not dramatic. Not rushed. Not performative.
Just honest.
This is the season where the light shifts and something inside you starts to respond. Where you notice what feels alive. Where you begin to stretch toward it.
March is All About Gentle Emergence
March is about subtle movement.
It’s about the moment you realize you’re ready.
Ready to try again.
Ready to speak up.
Ready to make something.
Awakening isn’t loud. It doesn’t require reinvention. It asks for awareness.
What feels ready?
What feels true?
What feels like it’s been waiting?
Let your journal be the place you explore that without pressure.
Word of the Month
Bloom

Bloom is our growth word for March.
Bloom is not about speed.
Bloom is not about comparison.
Bloom is not about proving anything.
Bloom is about unfolding.
Journal Prompts

What part of me is ready to bloom?
You don’t need a perfect answer. Let the question sit. Let it move through you. Write what comes up without editing it.
Additional Journal Prompts for Awakening
Use these throughout the month, or return to one whenever you need clarity.
- What feels different in me lately?
- Where am I outgrowing something?
- What truth am I ready to admit to myself?
- What would blooming look like in my real, everyday life?
- What am I willing to nurture instead of rush?
- If I trusted my growth, how would I move differently?
These aren’t questions to “solve.” They’re invitations.
Affirmation
I allow myself to bloom in my own timing.
Your own timing. Not social media timing. Not productivity timing. Yours.
Color Palette of the Month

This month’s colors mirror the feeling of Awakening. Steady. Expansive. Alive.
- Soft Clay: grounding, warmth, steady beginnings
- Sky Blue: openness, breath, fresh perspective
- Slate: depth, structure, reflection
- Sunlit Gold: illumination, creative spark
- Botanical Green: growth, renewal, becoming
Each color holds a different layer of this season.
Soft Clay keeps you rooted while things shift.
Sky Blue reminds you to breathe and widen your view.
Slate brings thoughtfulness and quiet strength.
Sunlit Gold sparks clarity and creative momentum.
Botanical Green carries the energy of becoming.
Try building a page around just three of these tones. Let the limitation focus your intention instead of overwhelm it.
Or choose the one that feels most aligned and let it lead the spread.
Your colors don’t have to match perfectly. Your growth doesn’t either.
Tarot Card of the Month
The Star

Hope. Renewal. Expansion.
The Star appears after disruption. After the shake up. After the moment where everything felt uncertain.
It doesn’t promise perfection. It offers clarity.
This card is a reminder that light returns. That healing is possible. That growth doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful.
If Awakening feels subtle this month, that’s okay. The Star is quiet hope. Steady hope. The kind that rebuilds you from the inside out.
Let this card guide your journal pages.
Where am I finding clarity?
What feels gently illuminated?
What truth feels safe enough to name now?
Crystal of the Month
Amazonite
Expression. Inner truth. Balanced communication.
Amazonite carries a calm strength. It doesn’t push. It doesn’t perform. It simply supports you in speaking honestly without shrinking.
This is a beautiful stone for an Awakening month.
Keep it near your journal. Hold it while you write. Or simply let it symbolize your commitment to telling the truth on the page.
Speak gently. Stand firmly.

Sunrise Journaling
Choose one morning this month. Sit near a window. Let the light move across your page.
Write about what you’re ready to grow.
Not what sounds impressive. What feels real.
March Dates and Energy
March carries both personal and collective awakening.
This isn’t just about what’s shifting inside you. It’s also about what’s happening around you.
National Women’s History Month
A time to honor the women whose courage, creativity, and resistance made space for ours. Whose voices cracked doors open so we could walk through them.
You might journal on:
Who made my growth possible?
What legacy of strength do I carry forward?
March 8 – International Women’s Day
A reminder that empowerment is not just aesthetic. It’s structural. It’s communal. It’s ongoing.
March 31 – International Transgender Day of Visibility
Visibility matters. Safety matters. Creative spaces that affirm identity matter. Awakening also means becoming more aware of how we support and protect each other.

Moon Phases
Full Moon – March 3
New Moon – March 18
Full moons illuminate. They reveal what’s ready to be released or acknowledged.
New moons invite intention. They ask, what do you want to begin?
If you work with lunar cycles, this month offers a beautiful rhythm for noticing what’s surfacing and what you’re ready to plant.
Zodiac Energy
Pisces – soften, dream, feel
Aries – initiate, ignite
We begin the month in Pisces energy. Reflective. Emotional. Imaginative.
We shift into Aries. Bold. Direct. Action oriented.
It’s the perfect transition for Awakening. First you feel it. Then you move.
Seasonal Shift
Spring Equinox – March 20
Ostara – March 20
Light and dark in balance.
This is the true turning point of the season. A reminder that growth requires both rest and action. Reflection and momentum.
Awakening isn’t about rushing toward the light. It’s about honoring the balance that makes growth possible.

I created a March Awakening workbook to support this month’s theme, along with guided journal prompts and printable elements you can use in your spreads.
Inside, you’ll find reflection pages centered around Bloom, gentle emergence, and creative growth. You can follow it step by step, pull individual pages into your art journal, or simply use it as inspiration when you’re not sure where to begin.
This month’s printables are designed to feel grounded but expansive. Structured, but open.
As always, take what you need. Skip what you don’t. Let this support you. Let it breathe. This is not another thing to “finish.” It’s something to explore.

How to Use This Month’s Awakening Theme in Your Journal

Think of everything we share each month as a menu, not a checklist.
You don’t need to use every prompt.
You don’t need to follow a specific order.
You don’t need to make it aesthetic for it to “count.”
You might start by writing the word Bloom in the center of a blank page and building outward from there.
You might pull The Star card and journal about what’s finally becoming clear.
You might create your paper flower and glue a petal into your journal as a reminder of what you’re nurturing.
You might simply sit in the morning light and write one honest paragraph.
Some days awakening looks like action.
Some days it looks like awareness.
Some days it looks like resting before you rise.
All of it is valid.
This month isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about becoming more yourself.
