Witchy Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Recommendations
A Reader-Curated List for Every Kind of Witchy Mood
I love to read. Like… a lot.
Last year, I realized I probably went through close to 100 books. My husband doesn’t always count it as reading since many of them were audiobooks, but honestly, listening while cooking, cleaning, driving, or getting ready is the only way I can fit that many stories into real life. When I checked my Audible history and saw over 300 titles since I joined, it felt a little wild and also very on-brand.
Stories have always been one of the ways I explore magic, intuition, power, and transformation. The witchy books I’m drawn to tend to mirror the same themes I write about here on NamaSlay. Cycles, the dark feminine, ancestral wisdom, ritual, softness alongside strength.
I’ve been slowly tracking my reading this year, but this list pulls together some of my favorite witchy science fiction and fantasy books from the last few years. It’s organized by vibe rather than genre and includes everything from cozy, hygge-style magic and spell-focused witchcraft to darker mythic stories and romantic fantasy. Many of these are also incredible as audiobooks, especially if you’re someone who reads with your ears as much as your eyes.

More Witchy Reading
Whether you’re in the mood for cozy, comforting magic, darker witchy energy, historical witches, or romantic fantasy, there’s no shortage of stories to explore. I tend to rotate between heavier reads and lighter, more nurturing magic so I don’t burn myself out, and this list reflects that balance.

Many of these books have lived in my ears while I’m cooking, cleaning, driving, or moving through everyday life. Audiobooks absolutely count in my book, and for me, they’ve become another way to stay connected to stories, imagination, and magic… even on busy days.
If these themes resonate with you, you may also enjoy exploring the deeper archetypes and spiritual ideas I write about here on NamaSlay, especially the Dark Mother and other witchy reflections woven throughout this space. And if you have a favorite witchy book you think belongs on this list, I’m always open to adding more! Drop me a note here or on Threads and let me know!
