How to share your work with the community using #NamaslayChallenge
The team at NamaSlay Crew loves a fun, creative challenge. Over the years, we have tried all kinds of them. A 30-day photo challenge where you follow a daily prompt and share something real. An art challenge where you make a small piece of art each day just to spark your creativity. A journaling challenge where you show up for ten minutes and get whatever is on your mind onto the page.
There is something special about a challenge that mixes personal growth with creativity. It gives you structure without pressure. It gives you a reason to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. And most of all, it feels good. It reminds you that you are allowed to play, explore, and create something that is just for you.
For 2026, we wanted to take that same energy and build something you can follow all year long. Something supportive, simple, and flexible. So we created a monthly personal development and creative challenge you can join at any time. Each month has a theme and a set of tools that help you reflect, reset, and express yourself in a way that feels grounded and inspiring.
Throughout the year, we will share a free monthly email centered on that month’s theme.
It will include:
- The Word of the Month
- A Mantra you can use in your journal or on social media
- Affirmation
- A simple monthly ritual
- A Tarot card of the month
- A crystal of the month
- A color palette to inspire your mood boards or art
- Moon dates
- Journal prompts
- And a monthly creative challenge you can do in your own style
Preparing for the Creative Challenge
This is a personal journey, and we want the supplies to feel accessible. You can absolutely use what you already have. That said, this is also a creative challenge, so there are a few tools that can make the experience easier and help you express yourself more freely. Nothing here is required, but these are the items we recommend and use ourselves.
A Journal or Notebook
This will be your main workbook throughout the year. Look for something with sturdy paper that can handle mixed media and is large enough to hold the printable workbook pages. I personally love the Canson Mixed Media 9 x 12 notebooks. The paper takes acrylics, watercolors, pens, markers, and pencils without buckling, and the pages are thick enough to glue or tape things onto. The bigger size also gives you space to spread out. Some people do not love spiral binding, and I agree that working close to the edge can sometimes be tricky, but for the price, these are very hard to beat.

A Printer or Access to Printing
If you do not have a printer, you can still write the prompts and questions by hand. The only downside is missing out on the coloring pages and printable collage materials. If printing is an option for you, it opens up more creative possibilities. You can buy an inexpensive printer, use a print shop, or send files to an online printer to use in your projects.
Recommendations:
Most Affordable:

HP DeskJet 2827e Wireless All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer
This is as basic as they come, but for the price, you can’t beat it.
Includes Copier/Scanner:

Canon PIXMA TS4320 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer
Another affordable option, but this one also offers the ability to copy and scan.
Craft Scissors

Any scissors will work, but if you enjoy detail work or plan to fussy cut your own stickers and shapes, a good pair makes a big difference.
I absolutely love the Tim Holtz detail scissors. They are by far my favorite.
Tape and Glue

The printable pages will need to be taped or glued into your journal. You can use whatever you already have, but investing in a few quality glue sticks makes things easier. I recommend the UHU Glue Sticks. I use them on everything.

You might also want to try a tape runner for quicker layering and collage work. These double-sided tape rollers are also awesome for quickly anchoring papers to your journal.
Pens and Markers
For the worksheets, you can use any pen you like. For the creative challenges, it helps to have a few fine-tipped pens or markers for detail work. Choose tools that feel comfortable and enjoyable to use. This is your space.
Some of my favorites:

Sakura Pigma Micron, Graphic & Brush Fineline Pens
These are awesome for line art, writing in your journal, and detail work. They are also archival, so you can paint over them and they won’t bleed. This pack comes in various sizes. Fun to play with!

POSCA 8-Color Paint Marker Set
I also love these acrylic paint markers. You can get them in different sizes and colors. One tip – don’t store them upright, like I made the mistake of doing; they dry up. Instead, lay them flat so the color stays distributed.
Paints and Brushes
You do not need to paint at all unless you want to. But if you are interested in adding creative elements or joining future art challenges, a basic watercolor set and a small set of acrylic paints are great to start with. You can build your collection over time.
Recommendations:

ARTISTRO Watercolor Paint Set
This is a nice beginner set. Super affordable and it comes with a paintbrush and the other tools you need to get started.

ARTEZA Acrylic Paint Set of 12 Colors
You can start with a very basic set and blend your own colors. Or, go for a set with additional colors. I have a LOT of paint, but it does take up space. So, if you’re just getting started with acrylics, I recommend this set of tubes. The colors give a nice variety as well.

Soucolor Acrylic Paint Brushes Set
You can use whatever brushes you have. But if you want to get a decent variety of sizes for a good price, this set is very affordable. The smaller brushes are great for detail work, and you can use them with your watercolors as well.
Art Supply Organization and Storage
When I started taking an art class in 2024, I quickly collected more supplies than expected. I learned that I do not feel very creative unless everything is somewhat organized and easy to find. I highly recommend setting up a small space for your journal and keeping your tools in order. Clear, stackable storage containers are perfect for paints, brushes, papers, stickers, and scraps.
My favorites:

Citylife 17 QT Plastic Storage Bin
We have a ton of art supplies at our house, so storage containers are a must!
I recently got this storage bin to help organize all of the markers, pens, and pencils we have and I love it!

2 Pcs 9 x 13 Plastic Stackable Storage Boxes
I also love having clear, stackable storage that I can move around the house as needed. When i start a new project, I move my tools, papers and other supplies into a separate storage container so that I can focus on on just what I need. It’s way easier to work and stay inspired when you have everything organized and ready to use.
We might suggest other supplies for future creative challenges, but we will try to announce them in advance so you have time to collect what you need.
The Creative Challenge Details
This challenge is designed to support you throughout the entire year, one month at a time. It is personal, creative, and flexible, which means you can make it as simple or as expressive as you want. The goal is to give you a gentle structure that helps you focus, reflect, and create without feeling overwhelmed.
What is the challenge?
The 2026 Personal Development and Creative Challenge is a year long journey that follows a new theme each month. Instead of trying to “transform everything” at once, you get small, guided practices that help you grow, check in with yourself, and express your creativity in a way that feels natural.
How it works
Each month, we release a set of tools you can use in your journal or creative practice. You can work through everything at once, spread it throughout the month, or choose the parts that feel most supportive. There is no right way to do this. The intention is to help you stay connected to yourself as the year unfolds.
What you receive each month
When you join the challenge, you will receive a monthly email that includes a printable for your journal with:
- Word of the Month
- Monthly Mantra
- Affirmation
- Ritual
- Tarot Card
- Crystal
- Color Pallet
- Moon dates
- Journal Prompts
As well as a creative challenge based on the theme.
These tools work together to help you reflect, reset, and build a personal practice that feels grounding and inspiring.
How you’ll work in your journal
Your journal becomes your home base for this challenge. Each month you will add your worksheet pages, write your reflections, create your collages, and complete your creative assignment. You can keep your journal minimal or go all in with color, art, and mixed media.
This is your personal space to explore.
Play along with the crew
We will also be sharing the monthly prompts and creative challenges on social media, so you can follow along with the community. You can post your pages, share your word, or simply check in with others who are doing the challenge. If you enjoy group energy, this is a fun way to stay connected and inspired.

Can I Join The Creative Challenge At Anytime?
Yes!
Even though we are starting this challenge with the new year, it is completely evergreen. The worksheets and prompts are not tied to specific dates. You can begin in January, or you can start during a moment of change, your birthday, a fresh chapter, or whenever you feel ready for a new beginning.
This challenge is designed to meet you where you are. There is no late start. There is no perfect timing. You simply begin when it feels right.
