June Theme: Play – Rediscovering Joy Through Creativity
June Theme: Play – Rediscovering Joy Through Creativity
Play can sometimes feel irresponsible.
There are dishes in the sink, laundry waiting to be folded, emails to answer, and a never ending list of things that need your attention. It is easy to convince yourself that enjoyment should come after everything else is finished.
But here is the thing. The list is never finished.
There will always be another load of laundry, another errand, another task demanding your time.
Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped treating play like something essential and started treating it like a reward we have to earn.
This month is a reminder that joy belongs on the to do list, too.
June Theme: Play

Play
Not in a “quit your responsibilities and run away to join the circus” kind of way.
In a…
“I want to make something just because it sounds fun.”
“I miss doing things without worrying whether I’m good at them.”
“I think I need a little more joy in my day.”
…kind of way.
Play creates space for surprise.
The kind that can’t be scheduled, optimized, or planned for.
The kind that shows up when you stop trying to control every outcome.
Creative Challenge
Play: Follow the Fun
The best ideas rarely show up on command.
They arrive as little sparks of curiosity.
A color combination.
A passing thought.
A random urge to make something.
This challenge is about following those sparks wherever they lead.
Trust the impulse.
See what happens.
Leave room for surprise.
This challenge celebrates the unfinished, the experimental, and the delightfully uncertain.
Word of the Month

Joy!
Not always the big moments.
Sometimes it’s your morning cup of coffee.
Or rewatching your favorite movie just because.
Or laughing so hard you forget what was stressing you out.
Just… finding reasons to enjoy the moment
Journal Prompts
What brings me joy lately?
When do I feel most present and alive?
What have I been taking too seriously lately?
If I gave myself permission to play, what would I do today?
Affirmation
Joy flows freely through me.
June Ritual: 5-Minute No-Rules Art Play
This month, give yourself five minutes to make something with absolutely zero pressure.
Set a timer. Grab whatever is nearby, a pen, marker, paintbrush, glue stick, scrap paper, old magazine, receipt, sticky note, whatever is calling your name. Then let yourself play.
Draw. Scribble. Paint. Collage. Write messy words. Tear paper. Glue random bits down. Use the “wrong” colors. Make something weird. Make something tiny. Make something that makes no sense.
The point is not to make it pretty.
The point is to let your creativity breathe.
This ritual is your permission slip to experiment without judging the outcome. No overthinking. No perfection spiral. No inner critic trying to turn your five-minute art moment into a full performance review.
Just you, your hands, and a little space to express whatever wants to come through.
Optional Add-Ons
Want to make it feel a little more magical?
Try one of these before or after your five-minute art play:
- Light a candle.
- Pull a tarot or oracle card first.
- Play one song and create until it ends.
- Use only scraps, markers, or whatever is already on your desk.
- Write one word afterward about how the process felt.
You do not need fancy supplies. You do not need a plan. You do not need to be “good” at art.
Creativity is not always about making something beautiful. Sometimes it is about making space for yourself.
So set the timer, make a tiny mess, and let June remind you that play counts as practice, too.
Tarot Card of the Month

The Fool ✨
The Fool doesn’t need all the answers before taking the first step.
This card is curiosity, possibility, and trusting yourself enough to begin. It reminds us that some of life’s best experiences happen when we stop trying to predict every outcome and simply say yes to the adventure.
This month, follow what excites you. Let yourself try something new, take a creative risk, or explore a path you normally wouldn’t.
Sometimes the magic is in not knowing exactly where you’re going.

Color Story

This month’s colors are playful, bright, and a little sun-kissed: coral, sky blue, sunshine yellow, fresh green, poolside aqua, and soft lilac.
Together, they feel like summer creativity in motion. Warm color for joy. Blue tones for ease and flow. Green for grounding. Lilac for that soft, whimsical magic.
Use this palette as inspiration for your journal pages, printable layouts, collages, vision boards, or any tiny creative moment you make this month. You can follow the colors exactly, mix your favorites, or completely ignore the rules and let your page become its own little mood.
That is the June energy: curious, colorful, expressive, and free.

A Note on Play + Creativity
You do not need a perfect routine.
You do not need a ten step morning ritual.
You do not need to turn creativity into another thing on your to do list.
This month is about following what feels fun.
The book that catches your eye.
The art supply you’ve been meaning to use.
The random idea that won’t leave you alone.
The moments that make you forget to check the time.
Let curiosity be enough.
Sometimes that’s where the magic starts.
How to Use This Month’s Theme
Think of this theme as an invitation, not an assignment.

You don’t need a plan.
You don’t even need to know where you’re going.
Just stay open.
To joy.
To curiosity.
To whatever catches your attention this month, that’s more than enough.

A Little June Magic
June has a way of reminding us that life is happening right now.
Not when the to do list is finished. Not when everything is organized. Not when you’ve finally figured it all out. Right now.
This month’s theme is not about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting with the parts of yourself that already know how to find joy, follow curiosity, and create without overthinking every step.
So let yourself wander a little.
Try something different.
Say yes to what sparks your interest.
And remember that not every meaningful moment needs to be productive.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is laugh, explore, make a mess, and enjoy the season you’re in.
We’ll be right here, cheering you on as you play your way through June.
