As Halloween approaches and more witchy images and videos appear, we can’t help but get excited again about all of the tools that drew us to witchcraft in the first place! Of course, Halloween isn’t the only time we get witchy… all year we use tools and rituals to tap into the divine and get answers to our biggest questions.
If you’re a baby witch (aka just getting started) we’ve put together a list of the top 10 quality, affordable products to help you get started on your journey!
1. Natural Amethyst Crystal Pendulum
This healing crystal pendulum can be used for divination and dowsing. It aids communication between the subconscious mind and the force fields around an object. It can be used to answer yes or no questions, to determine allergies and to help facilitate decisions.
Also, amethyst is a very powerful and protective stone. It has a peaceful, loving energy and helps with developing your intuition and psychic abilities. Amethyst activates the Crown Chakra to enhance spiritual awareness and promote a higher state of consciousness.
2. Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation
With this book you’ll learn how to be a powerful psychic witch, how cool is that? Psychic Witch explores the relationship between psychic ability and “magick”, interweaving them to create a solid foundation for tapping into the full potential of your mind, body, and spirit.
Author, Mat Auryn, shares some of his best kept secrets, practices, tips, and meditations so that you can master the perception and manipulation of energy. This book features over ninety exercises and the inner tools you’ll need to perform magick at any time.
4. Colorful Spell Candles
If you’re new to witchcraft (a baby witch), start here. These candles are a great option for beginners. Candle magic is an ancient tradition with a long history. Similar to crystals and stones, you start by cleansing and charging them first.
By harnessing the power of fire, which is the element of transformation, candles are used to bring change. Candle magick is a great way to practice your spellcasting and doesn’t require anything more than your candle and intentions.
The three basic principles of candle spell magick are:
- Setting a clear intention – why are you casting this spell? What is your desired outcome? Be as specific and positive as you can.
- Visualizing the outcome – imagine exactly what you want your outcome to look like. How will you feel when this goal is achieved?
- Focus on a positive result – keep your mind concentrated on the desired result. Don’t allow negative thoughts to creep in and ruin your positive connection.

Witches usually use a white candle for rituals that are focused on healing, new beginnings, and spiritual growth. White is also powerful for Lunar and Goddess workings.

You can use this sage smudging kit to perform a spiritual cleanse when moving into a new home, room or office. You can also use the kit to help create positive energy if you find yourself in a tense or negative mood, or for meditation, spiritual awareness or as a smudging kit for a home blessing.
6. The Spell Book for New Witches: Essential Spells to Change Your Life
Magic is present within all of us, if we tap into it! Practicing magic allows us to connect to the natural world, invite in opportunities, and even create the change we need in our lives. The Spell Book for New Witches shows you how to tap into your inner power and make spellcasting practical for your everyday life.
We love this book. Also, it’s perfect for baby witches!
Cleanse your altar.
Light the purple and red candles, and focus on your intentions to scry for love.
Patiently allow yourself to reach a centered, trance-like state.
Open your eyes and gaze into the bowl of charged water, allowing any messages or images that come through to fill your mind. Continue to hold your intentions while you gaze.
Look for colors and shapes, and listen to messages that come through. Take notes on what you see with a pen and paper.
Tap a wand or athame into water to create ripples, which will help make shapes. These shapes will help stimulate images or visions.
Allow yourself time to see images—the more you practice gazing, the better you’ll get at seeing them.
7. Mini Gemstone Bottles with Crystal Healing Tumbled Gemstones Set
These MINI bottles (who doesn’t love everything mini?!?) make a nice starter pack for the modern witch. Since they are tiny stones, they are perfect for using inside herb sachets. Oh, and we love the affordable price for a good selection of crystal shards that you can use in spells and not stress over the cost of losing a bigger crystal to that spell jar! You know what I mean witches?
8. Marble Mortar and Pestle Set
The Sagler Mortar and Pestle Set is the perfect tool to grind your herbs into a fine paste or powder. It is made from beautiful white marble and the bowl can hold up to 3 ounces. There are a lot of mortar and pestle sets, but this one is great quality for the price. It also makes a nice decoration for your alter when not in use.
9. Altar Tarot Cloth: Triple Goddess with Pentagram
Every witch needs a proper alter, am I right? This alter tarot cloth comes with a triple goddess pentagram design. Each point represents an element, earth, air, fire, water, and the spirit or divine. The circle is the universe that contains them. The triple goddess crescents and circle are the maiden mother and crone, the universe is within the “mother” part of the symbol as she birthed all that is.
We think this piece is so beautiful you could use it as your alter cloth or even hang it as a tapestry. Either way, it’s a great inexpensive cloth!
10. Leather Celtic Tree of Life Book of Shadows Blank Spell Book Wicca
This leather embossed journal comes with 120 environmentally friendly paper pages and is good for all types of mediums. Note – this is another smaller item that we recommend for the value. It’s very affordable for the quality of the book. It’s small, which is perfect if you want a spell book you can keep in your pocket! The leather is beautiful and the interior pages are bound nicely. The leather embossing is beautiful as well. You can tell it’s handmade, which we really enjoy. What can we say? We love this little leather book!
